Website privacy

Privacy Statement

This statement explains how Pooly handles personal information collected through this website, including the partner enquiry form. Bookings do not happen on this website; the Pooly app or webapp has its own privacy information for account, booking, payment and identity-verification features.

Operator: Pooly is operated by Pooly Technologies Limited, NZBN 9429052654923, a New Zealand company. Contact us at privacy@pooly.nz.

Information we collect

When you use this website, we may collect the details you choose to send us, such as your name, email address, route or region, organisation name, enquiry message and any other information you include in a form or email.

We may also receive basic technical information from our hosting and form providers, such as device, browser, time of visit and error or security logs needed to run the website.

Website analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics on every page of this website to count page views and understand how visitors find and move around the site. It records the page visited, the site or link you arrived from, and general device, browser and country information.

We also record each time a partner enquiry form is submitted, together with the enquiry category you chose from the dropdown, and each time someone clicks a link through to the Pooly app, along with which link on the page it was, so we can see how often each is used. The record is created when you press the button, so for enquiries it does not tell us whether yours reached us. It includes the same page, referrer, device and country information described above, but not your name, email address, organisation, or anything you type in your own words.

It does not use cookies, does not store an identifier on your device, and does not follow you across other websites or build a profile of you. We use the results only in aggregate, to see which pages are useful so we can improve the site. Vercel Inc. processes this information on our behalf and may store it outside New Zealand.

Advertising pixels (backpackers and students pages only)

Our backpackers page, pooly.nz/backpackers, and our students page, pooly.nz/students, use the Meta Pixel (from Meta, which runs Facebook and Instagram) and the TikTok Pixel. No other page on this website uses them. We use them to measure how our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok ads perform, and to show Pooly ads to people who have visited those pages.

When you open the page, the pixels send Meta and TikTok a record that you viewed it, the page address (including any ad campaign tags in it), the site you came from, your IP address and your browser and device information. When you click a link through to the Pooly app, they also send which link on the page it was. They do not receive your name, email address or anything you type.

Unlike our analytics, the pixels use cookies: Meta's (_fbp and _fbc) and TikTok's (_ttp) store an identifier on your device, alongside Meta's and TikTok's own cookies if you have used their sites. If you are logged in to Facebook, Instagram or TikTok in the same browser, Meta and TikTok can link your visit to your account there. They handle this information under their own privacy policies, which also cover how they use it for their own purposes, and they process it outside New Zealand. See Meta's privacy policy and TikTok's privacy policy.

On those pages, links to the Pooly app also carry the campaign tags from the address you arrived on, and any Facebook or TikTok click identifier, so the app can tell which ad brought you to Pooly. The app's own privacy information covers what happens after that.
